Discus Plague Treatment 250ml

When looking to buy Discus from aquarium shops, who do not specialize in Discus, you must ensure to observe that the Discus are not huddling in one corner and are not clamping their fins.

Symptoms

Discus who are suffering from Discus Plague will exhibit the following symptoms:

• Darker shade or are pitch black 
• Clamped fins
• Scratching and lethargic
• Lots of white mucus on slime coat, sometimes in patches
• Rapid breathing
• Tail rot 

In regards to treatment for your infected Discus, the only way to treat them is to obtain Formalin and follow these steps:

1. Ensure that you remove all other fish prior to treating the tank with Formalin.
2. Switch off your UV light
3. Remove any Purigen or activated Carbon from your filter
4. Add Formalin at the dosage rate of 10mL/100L of water
5. Your tank will go cloudy for 2-3 days and wait until your water goes clear and add Formalin again at the same dosage rate. Do not do any water changes until recovery. The acidic water helps them strip away their infected slime coat.
6. After recovery, add a product like "Stress Coat" to your water to heal the Discus's slime coats. It will also aid in rehabilitation.

Warning: It should be handled with extreme care, not inhaled and should be kept out reach from children and pets. 

The nature of Discus Plague usually means that only the larger,stronger fish survive and the smaller, weaker fish suffer and sometimes die. Discus Plague is a common disease amongst most aquarium shops who do not quarantine and treat their fish.
