In Australia, you could find it growing in an outdoor pond as far down as Melbourne while growing just as happily in a tropical tank with a temperature up to around 26-27 degrees.
Pennywort is a fast growing plant, so it’s very useful if you need to add some plants to your aquarium to take up excess nitrates. If it starts to get a little too tall, just remove some of the top part of the stem, and replant in your aquarium. Pennywort is best used as a midground or background plants as it can easily reach 30 – 40cm tall.
When grown emersed, the leaves take on a slight golden tone, and the flowers are of a similar colour.
